This is the first time we had been to this show. Lots of different things, more sections than our show.

A Journey through August

Flower and Produce Show

The annual Flower and Produce show has come around again.

It was mentioned earlier in the year at our allotment that there might not be so much produce on the show benches this year, due to the poor weather and we were right.

 If this has been your first year growing, then not all years are this bad.

This section is various craft items from a hard material.

The postcard at the bottom of the picture is a hard material. Maybe clay?

Jubilee Year.

This is good fun isn't it? Can you spot the caterpillar?

Its on the cabbage, middle of the photo at the bottom.

 We wondered why these ice creams were not melting.

Its Victoria Sponge actually baked in the cones, then butter cream whipped on the top.

So far this summer, there has been rather a lot of rain. I'm sure that this time last year I was on my second bottle of sun cream and last year wasn't that sunny either.

Its a good thing for me though, as I'm not all that keen on the sun and much prefer the autumn and winter.

This is a fan trained loganberry, its the first time we have fan trained anything, and, well, it does look fan shaped. We did have a good crop last year and it does have flowers on this year so it should be okay.

The plum tree to the left was bought for £5.00 four years ago, we had fruit last year, and we pruned it during late March, its looking okay so far.

You can see our potatoes to the left of the path in the middle. These onions on the right but you can see them.

Another NGS Open Garden - Parkside

1.1/4 Acre of Woodland and spring flowers and bulbs, with vegetable garden and cordon fruit trees.

I wish you could smell these.

We enjoyed seeing the cordon fruit trees and the veg garden
