Kings Lock Tea Rooms

Finally we visited this Tea Rooms. Its by the canal so you have to pick the weather for it.

It was sunnier than it looks, I really must learn how to take a decent picture

We did have to explore a bit as the map left a little to be desired. The map placed us on the wrong side of the canal!

Thankfully, we did go in the right direction. 

The house itself has been here for rather along time and was once the Lock Keepers house.

  

You can tell that it obviously was once a home.

Watermead Park

Last night we had a picnic at Watermead Park then had a walk around.

That is a replica woolly mamouth btw, its meant to have roamed here.

We've been here before, but its nice to go back to somewhere familiar.

This was last weeks adventure, which I forgot to show you. Its a nice setting, but we had to miss the drizzle.

The boats are always there.

I think it had started raining by this point, I guess the duck likes it.

Foxton Canal Festival

Foxton Locks Canal Festival was held both yesterday and today, we looked out of the window and decided to go today. As it turned out, weather wise it was the same both days. Warm in the sun with one sharp shower. The time at the allotment was timed with tea and cake time in the car, at the same time as the shower ;-)

Foxton Locks is managed and run by The Foxton Inclined Plane Trust (FIPT), its all Charity funded and run by volenteers. I think you can be a member if you want to be, we are not, but today raised money for the charity.

This little bookshop was sweet, the people had given up half of their boat to the bookshop. Not easy to do, I'm sure.

Myself and OH decided that owning a boat wouldn't be for us. To much downsizing to do.

I said that if you bought one thing then you would have to throw something away.!!!

According to the leaflet, this I assume was the Interactive Living Viking Village, complete with Ice Cream van!!!, but you get the idea, I'm sure.

I think the one with the long hair is enjoying himself abit too much!!!!

See what I mean, he went on to distroy the shield as well.

The Alpacas were for sale, the price wasn't stated, but you could also buy a postcard for 50p. That sounds easier.

Moira Canal Festival and Giant Hanging Baskets

Today we went to Moira Canal Festival

The boats were impressive and alot had photos of restorations that had taken place

The weather was kind, if a little windy, this is the events 11th year and was well organised with alot of vistors and exhibitors.



Don't try this at home, he said to "go next door and do it" !!!!

He hammered a nail straight into his nose as well, how do you find out that you can do this?



I guess this is a bad day at work for the assistant.

Finding a little train, always makes me smile

Outside catering not upto much, not really, one of the exhibitors, maybe showing how some people used to live.

The biggest hanging basket in the Midlands, or so it claims, under construction. Looks impressive, I wish I had something which held mine upright whilst I planted, rather than have to wedge it between pots.
