Autumn

I've been absent from blog land for a few weeks. No reason at all.

Some pictures which mean it must be autumn.

I've tried my best with these Cyclamen. I've planted them in JI No 3 compost with lots of added vermiculite and grit. Then top dressed with grit. 

This was from Scarecrow Day at Abbey Pumping Station.

These are our pumpkins, They are called Baby Bears. They are small and are meant to be. I hope they keep well, we have rather a lot.

The start of Sausage and Pumpkin Casserole.

Lots of Green Toms. We have decided to put them on the windowsill to turn red. They are coming along nicely.

So far this summer, there has been rather a lot of rain. I'm sure that this time last year I was on my second bottle of sun cream and last year wasn't that sunny either.

Its a good thing for me though, as I'm not all that keen on the sun and much prefer the autumn and winter.

This is a fan trained loganberry, its the first time we have fan trained anything, and, well, it does look fan shaped. We did have a good crop last year and it does have flowers on this year so it should be okay.

The plum tree to the left was bought for £5.00 four years ago, we had fruit last year, and we pruned it during late March, its looking okay so far.

You can see our potatoes to the left of the path in the middle. These onions on the right but you can see them.

Hobbies and Pass Times at Abbey Pumping Station

We've been to Abbey Pumping Station lots of times. This event was a new one this year.

This is a scale model of the inside. You can walk around the top floor. 

If you look at the pillars in the centre of the photo, these are them in really life.

Rather topical at the moment. They announced the time which was 12 hours after she sank and played music as she went down.

Grow Your Own

Making a start, I do love sowing seeds. Last years leeks are nearly all gone now. So I think I need to sow a few more this year. I'v done two trays like this.

Sweet Pea do make brilliant cut flowers, and the more you cut the more they come.

Ours didn't do very well last year, I think they got buried in other flowers before they had a chance. I shall more them to another site this year.

Sweet pea seeds, they do have a long root run so will enjoy these root trainers.

Saturday Shopper

Only a couple of things to show you.

We had some errands to run, chemist and car wash to name two. After driving to the allotment last week to take some slabs, which were gifted from Freecycle, the poor car looked as if I'd been off roading.

Its nearly seed sowing time and Aldi have come up trumps again this year as always.

Only 39p each.

Something to watch as well, some funny finds in Loros and Mind.
